Lecale Review Launch Thursday 24 October
The launch of the annual Lecale Review, the journal of the Lecale & Downe Historical Society, took place on Thursday 24 October in the St Patrick's Centre in Downpatrick. This 22nd Lecale Review, like its predecessors, records aspects of local history and society that will be of great interest to many. The Society was delighted that the 2024 Review was launched by our President, Dr Finbar McCormick, a distinguished archaeologist, writer and researcher.
Members of the Lecale & Downe Historical Society receive a copy free of charge as long as their subscription is up to date. The publication for non-members costs £10 and is available for purchase across the district.
Shown below are pictures taken on the night of the launch, including one of Conn Lavery, the youngest ever contributor, whose article on the Abbey at Carryke (townland of Erenagh) is included in the volume. Conn is pictured alongside our President Dr Finbar McCormick and editors of the Lecale Review Colm Rooney and Ken Dawson.
